There are 52 weeks in a year and thousands of examples of power and privilege in our lives. Use this pocket-sized journal to track how you react (head, heart, or action) to different examples where power is at play. Notice these behaviors, discover patterns, and decide if you want to keep them by doing root work. This is the foundation of social justice work.
Notice Notes was originally designed to help a single person develop observations skills regarding power dynamics and patterned reactions. Over the past several years this book’s use has grown and extended beyond a one-on-one conversation to the classroom of many universities.
Notice Notes prompts pull mostly from my personal observations and experiences and real world events from 2002-2010.

"We are using Notice Notes with all of our student staff. For 10 years now we have done an intense, three day oppression reduction training with our student staff but we always fell short in the area of 'keeping the discussion going'. Jessica Pettitt's 'Notice Notes' gave us just the tool we needed! The staff use the books at each of their weekly staff meetings and it has been very effective for us. My staff and I highly recommend this book!" -Melissa Giles
